This policy explains how Vowent handles personal information across accounts, profiles, photos, persona, matching, chat, Hangouts, Date Nights, notifications, safety tools, support, and privacy controls.

1. Who we are

Vowent is the controller for most personal information described in this policy when we decide how and why it is used. We apply a UK GDPR-aligned privacy baseline while supporting members in the United Kingdom, Nigeria, and other supported locations.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Vowent, we may collect:

  • account details such as name, email, phone number, login history, and verification status;
  • profile details such as date of birth, gender, location, relationship goals, interests, values, religion where provided, lifestyle, prompts, photos, and profile completeness;
  • persona answers, AI-generated persona summaries, approval status, compatibility explanations, and preference/dealbreaker signals;
  • encounters, likes, matches, conversations, attachments, unread counts, reports, blocks, safety plans, support tickets, Hangouts, and Date Nights;
  • notification preferences, push device tokens, delivery status, and operational communication history;
  • technical and security data such as device details, app version, IP-related telemetry, crash or diagnostic logs, and audit records.

3. Why we use information

We use personal information to:

  • create and secure accounts;
  • provide onboarding, profile, persona, matching, likes, chat, Hangouts, Date Nights, notifications, support, privacy, and safety features;
  • explain compatibility where you allow it;
  • process reports, blocks, moderation, account deletion, and data requests;
  • send essential service, security, support, and safety communications;
  • improve reliability, product quality, and operational performance;
  • comply with legal and regulatory duties.

4. Lawful bases

Depending on the context, we rely on:

  • contract, where we need data to provide Vowent features;
  • legitimate interests, where we need to keep Vowent safe, useful, secure, and reliable;
  • consent, where the law requires it, such as optional marketing or optional analytics choices;
  • legal obligation, where we must keep records or respond to lawful requests.

5. Sharing

We share information only where needed:

  • with other members when you choose to make profile, match, chat, Hangout, Date Night, or interaction details visible;
  • with infrastructure, storage, messaging, push, analytics, verification, support, and security providers acting on our instructions or under their own regulated roles;
  • with authorities, advisers, or investigators where legally required or reasonably necessary to protect members or the service.

We do not sell your relationship persona answers.

6. Communications and preferences

Operational messages can include account security, verification, profile, persona, like, match, chat, support, safety, Hangout, Date Night, and privacy updates. Push notifications can be managed in your device settings and inside the app where supported.

7. Retention and security

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes above, including service delivery, safety, support, disputes, fraud prevention, audit, and legal compliance.

We use technical and organisational safeguards such as access controls, logging, environment separation, storage controls, and monitoring. No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

8. International transfers

Where personal information is processed outside the UK, we use appropriate safeguards required by law.

9. Your rights

Subject to the law, you may have rights to:

  • access your personal information;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • request deletion in some circumstances;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • withdraw consent where consent is used;
  • receive certain data in a portable format where applicable.
